Principal Real Estate Europe was formed through the acquisition of INTERNOS Global Investors by the Principal Financial Group in 2018.
On 16 April 2018, Principal Financial Group and INTERNOS Global Investors announced that Principal had successfully concluded its acquisition of INTERNOS. INTERNOS became Principal Real Estate Europe, retaining its investment and management independence as part of Principal’s multi-boutique operating model, while gaining access to the resources and scale of a major financial institution.
Designed, raised capital and managed Invesco European Hotel Real Estate fund with €700m of capital invested in hotels on behalf of institutional investors. One of the few funds with an excellent track record as the fund paid its 7.5% target dividend every year since 2007 and a stable NAV. Managed separate €300m account mandate for Generali specific to hotel investments in Europe and Asia. Various other hotel, health club, theme park or leisure related sales, financings or advisory mandates.
Advice on the group’s strategy, acquisitions and financing of new projects and concepts outside of the core Club Med business such as fitness clubs or leisure concepts. Special focus on the expansion, development and funding of Club Med’s new urban entertainment, leisure and retail concept, Club Med World in Paris.
Responsible for the hospitality sector in the real estate group of Lazard investment bank. Involved in the sale of hotels worth over £ 1 billion including 8 Exclusive Hotels such as the George V and Plaza Athenee in Paris and New York; the sale of Savoy hotels, 61 Holiday Inns in the US, the purchase of Cliveden plc and other single hotel sales, financings and strategic advisory mandates. Sale of Taj hotels in the US; strategy advisory mandate for Tata group owner of Taj hotels for their expansion in India.
Responsible for global hotel development of Forte Plc. based in London. Major transaction was the acquisition of Meridien Hotels for £200 million.
In charge of hotel development in North and South America as well as Western Europe at Hilton International (based in London).
In charge of hotel development and acquisition in Europe and South America and major M&A deals. Deals include Meridien hotels in the Bahamas, Brussels, Lagos, Nigeria; Limassol, Cyprus; and several attempted M&A transactions of major hotel chains, such as Kempinski and CIGA hotels.
